Sending hugs and hellos from the Schulte family today, on Wolf-Hirschhorn Day! We are wearing our jeans, in support of rare jeans. It was a little rushed on our way out the door for school, but we got a pic!
I also wanted to share some fun news… today is also the cover reveal of a picture book I wrote, DANCING WITH DADDY, illustrated by Ziyue Chen (Two Lions/Oct. 26, 2021), which features a main character with WHS.
Elsie is the main character’s name! (She’s very much based on our Elsa, and our entire family dynamic.) It really bums me out that there aren’t many (any?) picture books that have children in main roles, who remind me of our girl, so that’s why I wrote this book.
In the story, Elsie uses a PODD book to communicate, a wheelchair for mobility, and eats fed via a G-tube. Here’s some of the art inside the story. Ziyue Chen did a beautiful job!
