It has been quite some time since I’ve given an update on Quinn! She is turning 10 on December 1st. Where does the time go? No, really?!

We have kept Quinn pretty locked down since the beginning of Covid and I will not lie – it hasn’t been easy on her. Quinn is a ‘social butterfly’ and enjoys outings and travel as much as we do. We have been able to take her to the beach the last two years and she definitely enjoys the water! We are planning a couple of trips in 2022, and are hopeful that we don’t have to alter those plans.

Quinn is still non-verbal, although she is always ‘chatty’ and has actually been exploring new sounds lately. She pats the side of her head for ‘yes’ and is able to shake her head ‘no,’ as well. We are currently trialing a Tobii Dynavox. She shakes her head ‘no’ every time we put it in front of her, but is also curious about it. We are hoping that this is something that she adapts to, as we know that she has a lot that she would like to communicate! Quinn also loves music. More than anything. She is very picky with what she listens to and when she dances – the girl has a beat better than any human I have ever seen!

Quinn loves her screen time, as much as we try to limit it. She has recently outgrown some of the cartoons that she used to love and has shown us her maturity with her movie choices. She could watch ‘Clueless’ and ‘Home Alone’ multiple times a day. She does still love Vampirina and Puppy Dog Pals, however!

Quinn has been pretty healthy the last couple of years. She was hospitalized with viral pneumonia in December 2019/January 2020. With that came C Diff, which we were unable to get rid of, unfortunately. We traveled to Vanderbilt University last summer, where Quinn had a fecal transplant. Fortunately, that worked for her and we have had no issues with that since. Quinn did have a breakthrough seizure recently – her first in over two years. We were able to manage her at home but I would be lying if I said that it didn’t ‘rock’ us. Puberty is also on the horizon. We have decided that when the time comes, we will delay in order to allow her more time to grow. She is quite small, even by Wolf-Hirschhorn standards.

Quinn continues to amaze us daily. And her love – it’s unmatched. I have included some pictures of her over the last year. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year!

What a big girl she is! I love this update.
So interesting that she will watch non-cartoon shows. The only one Paige likes is wheel of fortune. Love the pics too!

Quinn! The Clueless suit! That is so awesome!! I wish I could meet her – with your words, I feel like I have! I’d love to hear how things go with her Tobii Dynavox. We use an Accent 1000 for my daughter Elsa. Feeling you on the music! Super Simple Songs are my girl’s favorite. TY so much for sharing this great update!
