Halloween Jada               Halloween Marshall

Halloween is just a few days away, and many of you are surely getting your child’s costume prepped and ready to go. In addition to hitting your school parade and neighborhood trick-or-treat circuit, be sure to participate in our annual WHS Halloween Costume Event, right here at wolfhirschhorn.org.

If you’ve followed the website for a while, you know that this online event is our fun way of engaging the WHS community around the tradition of dressing up our kiddos and snapping their pics. Above are a few of last year’s best costumes. Anyone who posts a pic on the website will get a branded Wolfhirschhorn.org prize. Last year, it was a canvas WHS tote bag. We’re still finalizing this year’s item, but it will be good — promise!

Here’s how it works:

  • Be certain that you have a child with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome. (This is only for children with WHS.)
  • Take a few photos of your WHS child in his/her costume this Halloween.
  • Come to www.wolfhirschhorn.org, create a Halloween costume post, and within it, include your costume picture, as well as a fun story, update or anecdote. (If you need help with this step, email me at anitraschulte@gmail.com, and I’ll help you publish your picture.)
  • THIS IS IMPORTANT: After you publish your post, EMAIL ME YOUR CHILD’S PICTURE, CHILD’S NAME and YOUR MAILING ADDRESS. This is how we’ll be sure to get the prize item to you. (Again, my email is anitraschulte@gmail.com.)
  • Make sure you live in the US or Canada, or can get a shipment to a United States address. (If you don’t live in the United States but want to share your pumpkin’s pic, please post it anyway!)
  • Post your picture by Sunday, Nov. 8, 11:59 p.m. Central Time, to ensure you get a prize.
  • Keep in mind that your child’s picture also will be shared and/or posted on social media, in addition to wolfhirschhorn.org. Your submission gives us permission to share the picture for this awareness event.
  • The goal of it all: TO RAISE AWARENESS OF WHS!

Be sure to tell your friends and family about the costume event and encourage them to check out your post and share your post on Facebook (or Instagram, if that’s your thing!). This is a critical component of the event.

And, just like last year, the WHS prize that our event entrants receive will also be available for sale to you, your family and friends – just in time for the holiday season. Proceeds from the holiday sale will fund the purchase and shipping of prize items to all of the kids featured in Halloween posts. Any additional funds raised will go in the WHS account. (We’ll share the link to the branded WHS item next month. Keep an eye out!)

Happy Halloween, and happy posting. Wow us with your cute pics!
