Halloween Event 2014
It’s Halloween week, and you know what that means… It’s time for the annual WHS Halloween Costume Extravaganza! This is our fun way of getting the WHS community engaged around a universal tradition – dressing our cuties up for the holidays and snapping their pics. Pictured above are Fiona and Ethan, last year’s top costumes. We’re asking all families to bring their best ensembles again this year.
You may recall that last year’s Halloween postings were done on Facebook. This year, we’re bringing it back to the website. (We miss your great posts and want to see you sharing here again!) And, rather than award prizes for top vote getters, we’ll be sending all those who post pictures a branded Wolfhirschhorn.org prize… a canvas WHS tote bag!
Here’s how it will work:
- Be certain that you have a child with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome. (This is only for children with WHS, or course!)
- Hurry up and put the finishing touches on your kiddo’s amazing costume.
- Take a few photos of your WHS child in his/her costume this Halloween.
- Come to www.wolfhirschhorn.org, create a costume post, and within it, include your favorite Halloween costume picture and a fun story. (If you need help with this step, email me at anitraschulte@gmail.com, and I’ll help you publish your picture.)
- THIS IS IMPORTANT: After you publish your post, EMAIL ME YOUR PICTURE, CHILD’S NAME and MAILING ADDRESS. That’s how we’ll be sure to get the tote bag to you. (Again, my email is anitraschulte@gmail.com.)
- Make sure you live in the USA or Canada, or can get a shipment to a United States address. (If you don’t live in the United States but want to share your punkin’s pic, please forward it on to us anyway!)
- Post your picture by Sunday, Nov. 9, 11:59 p.m. Central Time, to ensure you get a prize.
- Keep in mind that your child’s picture also will be shared and/or posted on social media, in addition to wolfhirschhorn.org. Your submission to us gives us permission to share the picture for this awareness event.
- The goal of it all: TO RAISE AWARENESS OF WHS, and our AMAZING KIDS!
To meet our goal, it’s really important to tell all of your friends and family about it and encourage them to check out your post and share your post on Facebook. That is a critical component of the event.
Also, remember that the Halloween event is just the beginning: The WHS tote bag that our event entrants receive will also be available for sale to you, your family and friends – just in time for the holiday season. What a great gift, right?! The proceeds will be given to our children in the form of prizes (in this case, they will go toward the cost of printing and shipping tote bags to all of the kids featured in Halloween posts). We’ll share the link to the tote on Nov. 10 – so keep an eye out for that!
Happy Halloween everyone – can’t wait to see your pics!
