Over the past few weeks Mia has blown us away by picking up a small but increasing vocabulary of verbs that she understands and will respond to accordingly. So far these include ‘clapping’, ‘dancing’, ‘kicking’ and – cutest of all – ‘kissing’.

Forgive the singing, but here is a short video clip of Mia showing off her new-found clapping skills…

Mia listens so carefully. She has fantastic timing. Rochelle’s receptive vocabulary skill have always been greater than her expressive skills. She is non verbal, but at this point I am convinced she understand everything. She is hyper observant and picks up subtle communication cues. Children with WHS are so clever, in different ways. That’s why we find them so amazing and balk at labels that undermine their abilities.
