We just wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce our special little boy Teejay. Teejay was born at the end of february 2011 about 5 weeks earlier than planned and weighing in at just over 4 pounds. He spent the first 3 weeks in hospital mainly due to the fact that he would not feed on his own. The first 6 months flew by and all seemed well apart from the fact that Teejay was a bit small and difficult to feed. We were having regular visits from a nutricianist and a developmental nurse and was told that he would catch up and that we need to treat him a couple of months behind in his development. We finally got to see a peadiatrician in Nov 2011 and found out a couple of weeks before christmas that Teejay had WHS.I probably dont need to tell anyone how we felt after we did the google search and found some medical website which gave us the clinical description of WHS.Luckily a few days later we found this website which gave us a better idea of what we were facing. We were then referred to a specialist who did molecular karyotype test.We found out in january that Teejay has a 4.1mb terminal deletion of 4p16.3p16.2 and a 6.8mb terminal duplication of the chromosomal region 8p23.3p23.1.Teejay will be 1 year old in a couple of weeks. He currrently weighs 15 pounds. He has a nose tube to help with his feeding which has improved lots in the last month or so.He loves cuddles especially from his 3 year old sister (who does not have any problems). He goes to normal daycare with his sister. We have so far had his eyes and ears tested and they are fine.We are now awaiting an appointment for an EEG which will hopefully tell us more.He rolls around on the floor and tries to get into a crawling position but his arms are still not quite strong enough to push himself up.He likes to blow raspberries and if you do one he will do it back to you.He smiles alot and has just started to grab at his toys.He can stand up if you hold his hands. He has not shown any signs of seizures(fingers crossed). He gets constipated quite often although we have recently changed his milk and he has not been constipated for a while(again fingers crossed).Everyone that knows him love him because he is such a cutey. His first tooth is just coming through. The doctors cant really tell us what to expect so we are just taking things a step at a time and hoping that he can walk and talk eventually. It keeps us optimistic when we read some of your stories and acheivements.I have attached a photo of Teejay at 6 months old and will put some more on soon.We will keep you updated when he learns some new tricks
