Hi my name is Renee Karen Hunger born on 2 August 2011 at 37 weeks + 2 days gestation, weighing 2lb 11oz but now at 4 months im 7lb 2oz. I was born by emergency caesarean as they lost my heart beat. The day I was born changed the life of all my family. My Dad was told that he was going to go to Wellington with me as they thought I had fluid on my brain, a day later was all clear so did not have to fly anywhere. I have a cleaft palate, 1 kidney, torticollis of the right neck which excercises are in my daily routine to try and help me turn my head to the right. My valve in my heart had not closed when I was born, the option I was given was to have an operation to close it but my Mum and Dad said I was to small at the time. 3 weeks later after I was born they did another scan to see what the valve was doing and it had closed on its own. During the first week I was diagonised with WHS plus P16.3,P16.2, P16.1 and part of P15.33. I spent a month in the NNU which I had lovely nurses looking after me. My feeds are through a NG tube but can take part bottles, sometimes I surprise my Mum by having the whole bottle. The week before coming home I had my hearing and eye test done which I failed my hearing so got referred to the Audiology department which was also a failed test, so got to have a plane ride to Auckland to get tested and found that I could hear but have fluid in my middle ears. My eye test was good and I can see. I am so lucky to have parents, brother, sister, family and friends that love me so much. I look forward to meeting other new friends along the way. From Renee
