Had to take Arin into her pediatrician today and she is now weighing in at 5lbs 5oz. They are giving her Zantac and trying Similac Sensitive for her formula as well as a GI consult and starting the process for the G tube. We will probably have to start with the NG tube since she is still so small and would not be able to handle the sedation. Her doc is also calling her geneticist to make sure he has no other ideas. This is all due to her starting to decrease the amount of formula she takes in a day and the fact that she will go 7 hours between feeds overnight and then only take 1 oz then sleep for another 3 hours. We want to be proactive and get on top of this before it becomes a major issue. Thank you all for your support.

Hang in there Brianna… As long as someone is taking ownership to make sure that you are addressing the feeding, that is important.
HI Brianna,
The g-tube and nissen was a tough decision to make for Amelia and I fought it for awhile. But after the gtube, I felt such a sense of relief that she was now getting all the nutrition she needed. We also did the NG for awhile to help Amelia gain weight before the surgery.
I know it is a tough path to go down, but it was such a relief to get the tube for Riley. Similar to Arin, she was taking almost an hour to take 1- 1 1/2 oz, at 10 months!! It was very frustrating for her and very frustrating for me. At times I wish we did the tube earlier. At 10 months, she VERY quickly figured out she didn’t need to eat because she was still getting fed through the tube. I feel like if we did it early, we could have focused so much more on oral feeding in an enjoyable, non-stressful way, while supplementing as needed through the tube. Good luck with your decision.
Though we haven’t done a tube before with Brodie we have been close so many times. Most of us parents have been right there where you are right now and it’s really tough but it sounds like you will have some relief soon. Thinking of you ALOT and hoping you get some sort of peace of mind soon with her weight. Brodie is also going through a tough spell right now even at 2 years old and my life revolves around his feedings again. Please post another update when there’s more news on Arin.
